(Updated on 18-Mar-2010)

According to the comments here and some other places, you might see theĀ EIGRP, VTP, Access-list 2 sims (Access-list 2 is an old sim but they revived it). And one notice in the VTP sim is they can change the root bridge and the Configuration Revision Number so make sure you grasped the concept.

Make sure you understand all the sim-labs on this site because all the sims you might see in your exam were posted here.

I will continue to update this page when I get news about the change. If you know anything about the change, please comment here (especially about lab-sim questions). All of us are waiting for your guide!

Your posts are warmly welcome!

Please don't ask for links to download copyright materials here...

Hope you will find useful information from friends who have taken the CCNA exam!

Hi everyone,
I made it on 19 Oct 2009.
Qs: 48 Qs for 90mins
Result: 986/1000 I think I only missed one Drag and Drop question
9tut... you are my hero

That Q was to match one Advantage and one Disadvantage of WAN technology (Packet Switching, Circuit-Switching and Point -to-point,...) with choises like: low speed, quality, efficient, cost,...
I didn't see such a test before..did anyone?
maybe 9tut can help.

SIM Qs:
NAT
Router basic config + RIPv2
Frame-Relay hotspot
All were the same as 9tut scenarios except for IPs....

Some hints for those about to start:
1-Timing is everything...don't forget that, if you can not answer regular tests in less than 1 minute don't go for the exam.
2-Timing is everything again
3-Master subnetting...YOU HAVE TO MEMORIZE ALL NUMBERS FROM 0-255 IN BINARY FORMAT
4-Don't forget 9tut, pass4sure and ofcourse Testking...they are gods.
5-When you pass...share your experience

Please let me know if I can do anything for you guys.

Thanx 2 9tut...keep on going...ur the best

Hi everyone,

I'm happy to inform you that I've just pass the exam today with 972/1000 score. I have some information to give you and may be it's useful for someone intending to take CCNA:

- I studied with p4s 7.73, it's almost full of question but there are few questions not appearing in my exam but I can found it in TestInside 640-802V11.72, so I think 2 materials are enough for you.

- my laps today are Frame-relay, Nat, Ripv2, you must study it with 9tut, some of details may be different in the real exam but if you study carefully, you could take them easily.

One thing I want to say, I only study in 3 days before taking the exam, so don't be worried about anything, just focus on it and you will pass

Regards,

Vinh Tung

9tut, please answer the following question.

A host is attempting to send data to another host on a different network. What is the first action that the sending host will take?

a. drop the data
b. send the data frames to default gateway
c. create an ARP request to get a MAC address for the receiving host
d. send a TCP SYN and wait

I think b. should be the right answer because the data has to send to different network, the sending host will forward the data to default gateway.
but the answer given is c.

Please help to find the right answer.
9tut 10-21-2009
The correct action is: the sending host will first send an ARP (broadcast) request to find out the MAC address of the default gateway. So none of the above answers is correct!
Alt 10-22-2009
9tut, please help us to answer the following:

Which statement about RIPng is true?

a. RIPng allows for routes with up to 30 hops
b. RIPng is enabled on each interface separately
c. RIPng uses broadcasts to exchange routes.
d. There can be only one RIPng process per router.

Which command will show the MAC address of stations connected to switch ports?

a. Show mac-address
b. show arp
c. show table
d. show switchport

My answers is a. but the answer given is b. Can someone help me?
Anonymous 10-22-2009
@Anonymous

as much i know "sh mac-address" is used for showing the mac addresses on a switch and the "show arp" is used to show the mac addresses on a host machine..........

so the correct answer is a...........
correct me if i'm wrong.......

@Alt

Which statement about RIPng is true?

The answer is b: RIPng is enabled on each interface separately

@Anonymous

Which command will show the MAC address of stations connected to switch ports?

There is no correct answer, i think, cause i dunno command "sh mac-address".
May be "sh mac-address table" ?
Orac1e 10-22-2009
sh mac-address-table, i mean
snowy 10-22-2009
@Anonymous

Which command will show the MAC address of stations connected to switch ports?

sh arp that show mac connected to switch port
sh mac-address-table that show mac all port on awitch

so sh arp is correct
snowy 10-22-2009
@Anonymous

MAC address of stations connected to switch ports?
that mean MAC-address of neighbors
Orac1e 10-22-2009
@snowy

first, arp not show correspondence between mac and interface number, only macs.
second, switch is a layer2 device (in our case) and arp is a layer3 protocol. lines will be appear in arp table of the switch if we configure its management ip and try to ping it

Sybex book
Portable Command Guide

@9tut: Thanks for your great site, without you I wouldn't pass! I sent you a small donation, hoping you keep up your good work.

Thanks again!

Cisco catalyst switches CAT1 and CAT2 have a connection between them using ports FA0/13. An 802.1Q trunk is configured between the two switches. On CAT1, VLAN 10 is chosen as native, but on CAT2 the native VLAN is not specified. What will happen in this scenario?

a. 802.1Q giants frames could saturate the link.
b. VLAN 10 on CAT1 and VLAN 1 on CAT2 will send untagged frames.
c. A native VLAN mismatch error message will appear.
d. VLAN 10 on CAT1 and VLAN 1 on CAT 2 will send tagged frames.

Please answer the above question

When troubleshooting a Frame Relay connection, what is the first step when performing a loopback test?

a. set the encapsulation of the interface to HDLC
b. Place the CSU/DSU in local-loop mode.
c. enale local-loop mode on the DCE frame relay router.
d. Verify that the encapsulation is set to Frame Relay.
Orac1e 10-25-2009
@saba

a. PPP
c. HDLC
f. ATM

@alt

We are seeing LMI on screenshot. That tell us the answer: c. Frame Relay

LMI - protocol used between router and Frame Relay switch. Used for auto discover local DLCI and mapping it to remote router ip (by using inverse arp) and for managing status of the connection between devices.
Orac1e 10-25-2009
@ Anonymous

Dunno what is a "loopback test", but i think that is answer is d. Verify that the encapsulation is set to Frame Relay.
Orac1e 10-25-2009
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk713/tk237/technologies_tech_note09186a008014f8a7.shtml

a. set the encapsulation of the interface to HDLC

This question CCNA related?
@oracle 10-25-2009
you need to be able to troubleshoot Frame-relay WAN connections as a ccna...

I wish they would add mpls
Orac1e 10-25-2009
that is right, but ccna troubleshooting is easy (show command ans basic conf).
And the question about Frame Relay loopback test on knowledge about it (i have not read about this test nor in Cisco Academy Course, nor in Wendell Odom's book)
alt 10-25-2009

We hear a lot from ppl that pass the exam... and what resources they use... which is great info

Has anyone used these resources and NOT passed? Could you share your experiences with us too? What steps did you take to pass the next time?

Hi,
Kindly explain question 154 of Testinside 11.72, I want to understand the question and answer it rather than just mugging the answers.

hi guyzzzzz...
GOOD NEWS
I got the latestinside v 11.72

anybody needs contact
hassan_kamal11@hotmail.com
@Anonymous 10-25-2009
I don't believe 154 is answered correctly... as a few sometimes are.

The way I see is is that acl 100 allows ssh in... but the telnet one's syntax is incorrect (and IOS probably wouldnt allow it to be entered as suck) the implicit deny all would reject everything but ssh.

now on the other int... acl 101 .... ssh syntax in wrong... and telnet is blocked correctly... since both telnet and ssh would pass through both these ints and neither one is configed correctly... I would chose A- Devices will not be able to use telnet or ssh... (or much else...)

Maybe someone else could clarify if I an incorrect.

-MH
Orac1e 10-25-2009
The syntax is correct. Look at the ports portion of the command. Telnet and SSH are running on server on well-known ports. The clients port are random.

In ACL 100 for ssh we correctly use port 22 as destination port that open on server.
For telnet we use port 23 as the source port that open on client machine - it is wrong.

In ACL 101 ssh port 22 is using as source - correct.
And for telnet as destination - again wrong.

So the answer B is correct.

Question on attentiveness..
@Orac1e 10-25-2009
well said.

extended access lists are highly customizable.

Hi all,
I passed CCNA640-802 exam today with 988.

Used Testinside v26(293q)

There were 8-10 news questions not (11.69 and p4s (473 Q).
News Q from Testinside v26 (293q)

Dear every1,

i need to know something, that is very much confusing to me. few days back, in testinside site they said they have updated their ccna 640-802 with 265 qatn on 17th october....but then after 2 or 3 days later, they are saying that there are 293 qstn......

so what was that???? plz do inform me......

sabashadaab@gmail.com

Many thanks,
hassan@ 10-26-2009
hi anoanyms..

The test inside question no 154 is correct
choice B

becoz acces list for telnet is not correctly implemented..... " eq telnet " should be at the end of acces list
it should be like
20 permit tcp 172.16.16.0 0.0.0.15 host 172.16.48.63 eq telnet
hassan@ 10-26-2009
hi anonyms
they are talking only about the above acceslist 100 we dont care about the bottom acceslist 101....and in the above acccelist the ssh is
allowed bt telnet syntax is incorrect
look closely at question they are askin that what is the effect of 172.16.16.0 when they try to telent or ssh the svr server
so only the above accellist is considered in the question which is configure on int f0/0 in

i took the exam on 24-10-2009 failed with 790 marks,as 825 needed.
now i checked this site and found that all the simulations were exactly same, as i messed up all of them!! i hav got NAT,router config with ripv2 & frame relay. No questions on ipv6!!

V. IMPORTANT TIP FOR anyone going for the exam:
"write all the subnet masks, with their BLOCK SIZE seprately on chart as you will need them in almost every simulation and most of the questions"

AND KEEP YOUR COOL
as i didnt do any of the above and failed.
...

please any one can share latest dumps.

How long do they usually give you before the exam ... to do your brain dump... like write down a subnet chart?
Sam 10-26-2009
Wow, I was looking for legit testing materials, instead I find sites like these I already took an passed my CCNA without dumps or cheating.

You guys here are pieces of *. Instead of learning something you memorize questions and pass exams. Worthless pieces of * everyone here is. I hope you never find work you cheaters.

In a production network there is no "A,B,C, or D" choice.

Have fun failing in interviews.

In TI 11.72 question 40 the exhibit is correct ?
Anonymous 10-26-2009
no it is not.
Anonymous 10-26-2009
43 q the answer is wrong.. and i can't see the correct (three) from answers...
ccna 10-26-2009
I have just passed the exam. I have used 473q pass4sure and 9 tut of course.
Exam was easier than what i expected. i finished 48 question in 45 min. The exam is 90 min.

To SAM:
Hey man, I am partially agree with you. However, you are wrong and you are just liar my friend. I am agree with you if you are refereing people who just study question and memorize it and go to exam, however my friend you should know that nobody can memorize 473 questions. if they do i will respect their memory capability not to their ccna cert.

making practice with questions here and other products are just helping you improve your question solving skill. and without question solving skill even a good experienced network admin will have hard time to solve all the ccna questions since it covers lots of subjects which they may not need to know in their daily work.

And my friend, you are liar because why you are in this "cheating" website if you already passed the exam.

anyway brothers, i should not waster my time to this liar but i could not help myself. i am helpful :p

for you: study lab sim questions here. i don't see any new one on the exam.
@ anonymous 10-26-2009
q 43? the spanning tree q? I believe the answer is correct.

switch c will be the root... both ports designated...

switch b will have gi0/2 in blocking gi0/1 root

switcha will have fa0/2 desig... fa0/1 root

switch d will have gi0/1 desig ... gi0/2 root

at least that how i read it.

and to SAM: Not everyone here is only using 9tut and dumps to pass... some of us have real world experience and training beyond dumps and 9tut...
Anonymous 10-26-2009
So, why on switchB gi0/2 blocking and on switchA fa0/2 desing ?

SwitchB place BPDU with cost 8 on segment swB-wsA and SwitchA - with cost 19..

And the port roles should be vice versa...
@ anonymous 10-26-2009
its not gigabit eithernet on the other end... its 100mb... SwitchA fa0/2 is 100MB... so that would make Gi0/2 operate at 100Mb... with costs then the same...the higher port number gets blocked.
Anonymous 10-26-2009
Oh. I have forgotten that speed's should be the same.

Thank you.
Anonymous 10-26-2009
But... The cost is not the same... The costs still 8 and 19...
@ anonymous 10-26-2009
i may be wrong... but i was under the understanding that cost was based on actual link speed and not the type of link

in this case the gi link will be operating at fa speed... thats how it will show under show int anyway...

can anyone more learned than I clarify?
Anonymous 10-26-2009
Sorry, i am wrong =) 19 vs 23.. so you are right.. but will block, couse of bigger cost
Anonymous 10-26-2009
lol. finally you are right. i am stupid =)

9tut 10-26-2009
To Sam: I am pretty sure that no one can pass the exam by memorize questions. In the real exam, IP addresses (and many other things) are changed so if you don't know how to subnet and understand the concept, surely you will fail. The spirit of this website is to bring knowledge to candidates so I tried to explain everything carefully to make sure everyone can grasp the concept behind.

gud, but if you have very first question on simulation, do that question first and write the subnet charts later.

Coz for simulations cisco wants that u do them in 15-20 min not more than that, if you'll take more time they gonna cut the marks regardless of you doing them correctly!!

Hi all, can anyone explain the q 147 from TI 293 q&a...

My mind the answers B and D are correct. Or we use the prefix 19 because we have not need more hosts and 18 is much bigger than we need.

Thanks in advance.

Q 147 from TI 293:

Since we are creating a pool from 1.1.128.1 to 1.1.135.254, prefix-length 19 is sufficient for our pool range. Hence A is the right answer.

Branch-1's IP -- 10.2.10.10
Branch-2's IP -- 10.2.20.20

cisco newbie 10-28-2009
@Aleit

Are you for real ?? approximatly how much are worth the sims ? are they RIGHT/WRONG type of labs ? or do they give partial credit for what you have done ?
Bond007 10-28-2009
If you don't do the commands on the sims can you still answer the questions? Thanks for your help Aleit.
Bond007 10-28-2009
This would be for the ICND1 Sorry !!! Thanks for your help
Aleit 10-28-2009
Each sims will give you 80 to 100 points. If you miss 2 of them then your chance to fail is very high.

@cisco newbie: not sure about partial credit because no one can tell you about that. Maybe the answer is "yes", but just a few points. So grasp and answer all the questions correctly!

@Bond007: You can still answer the questions if it is a hotspot sim (sim with a group of multi-choice questions like VTP sim, ACL sim). Other sims ask you to config them correctly to get marks.

9tut 10-28-2009
Yes, all the things Aleit mentioned above are correct!

9tut and recently CCNA certified, Please answer the following:

In drag and drop questions, for example:question 265 Testinside(293), is the order of drag & drop should be same as shown by TI or we can place up or down provided it belongs to correct category.

@tony_dize

referring to Q-185 from the TI 293Q

OSPF divides networks into several classes including p2p, multiaccess & non-broadcast multiaccess. a p2p is a serial connection & MA can be ethernet or token ring.
as the DR is choosen only in MA,NBMA & broadcast n/w. so despite pf having the highest RID "Branch-1" will not be a DR coz its having a serial conn.

hope this can help you.
:-)
Arbaz 10-29-2009
@tony_dize

thats wat my understanding goes!

9tut plz cnfirm.
Orac1e 10-29-2009
OSPF elects the DR for each LAN segment.. In the exhibit we have two LAN segments..
For first segment Corp-4 have the biggest router-id.. For second - Branch2
alt 10-29-2009
@tony_dize:

referring to Q-185 from TI 293Q

Since DR and BDR are elected only in broadcast multi access and NBMA, this network will have two elections:
election 1 participants are: Corp-1, Corp-2, Corp-3 and Corp-4
election 2 participants are: Branch-1 and Branch-2

In election1, Corp-4 with highest router ID among its group is elected as DR.
In election2, Branch-2 will be elected at DR.

Is there are anything chonge IP address nd subnneting from TI or p4s in real test?
Anonymous 10-30-2009
Hey all,

Just passed my test with a 985, this site was awesome for the sim and drag and drop questions....thanks 9tut

I had the CCNA Config sim,CCNA Nat sim 1 and the Hotspot Frame relay question.

You need to know your subnetting well, check out http://www.subnetting-secrets.com/, well worth the cost, I can work out all subnet questions in my head in about 30 secs.

I studied with testout CCNA video tuition and pass4sure V814 (only about five questions in the test that I had not seen)

One question was interesting as it showed the pinouts of a cable (both ends) and asked you to determine what type of connection it would be used for e.g host to router, switch to switch etc.

Also the sample questions in pass4sure might have four choices and say you must pick two or three depending on the question, but the test version will have six choices so don't just learn by rote make sure you under the concepts if possible.

Again great site and thanks for the help :-)
Anonymous 10-30-2009
Also the help function is available and auto complete most of the time.

Keep in mind that the test does not allow you to go back and correct previous questions so take some time and double check all configs and answers.

TI Q224- As far as I am aware the problem is that the interface is in a different area (area 1 as per config)

TI Q226 - The router does not have a route to 10.1.1.4 nor does it have a default route, so the router would send back a "destination unreachable" ICMP message to the source ip addres which is reached as per the routing table via fa0/0
rhav 10-30-2009
Hi all,

I passed my exam yesterday with the score 972 from 1000, i mainly used the self study guides and the Testking V.23. I also used the Packettracer and the .zip file from 9tut (thanks very very much for this great work and effort!!!).

I had the Frame-relay-hot spot, NAT-simulation and the Basic-Configuration, so they are still valid and up to date. It could have been possible, that the numbers from the Networks differed from those which are published here, make sure that you get a "feeling" for the Simulation and not just the numbers and the Interface numbers, it's not that hard :) learn it, understand it, train it, pass it... that's pretty much it :)

For the Questions... The main thing i noticed was, that there are more answers to the Questions! I had a quick look at the p4s-guide and mostly it provided 4 answers, from which 1 was valid. On the Exam i had on some questions 6-7 possible Answers so don't get shocked if you find a Question which you already know from the study-guides with more possible Answers :) it's still the same answer :)

Also on the CCNA-exam in the intro i prepared a small list with the most common Subnet-masks, wildcard masks, subnetranges etc... that helped me to save a lot of time during the exam, no calculation was needed just a quick look at my paper, i really can recommend you doing this in the 15 mins intro.

That's it, thanks 9tut for providing the Sim's and hot spots :)
cheers

in Q.224 - default route is configured at wrong interface i.e. its configured on S0/0, It should be configured at in S0/1. As the default route in OSPF is configured at that interface of ABR which is other area. Hence R2 will assume that the R1's int S0/0 is in different area. Hence will not form a neighbor relationship.

today i passed the icdn2 865/825 was fairly tough I thought cos i spent months preparing and I actually felt I might fail till i got my score..
One question I had no idea related to a show int display and what might indicate collisions on the interface ..MTU 1500,reliablity 128/255,Runts,Giants..the answer was Runts and Giants..I guessed wrong...never even heard of these b4..
other than that ospf lab..basically adding a ospf process and the networks, loads of vtp/subnetting VLSM..spanning tree was pretty starightforward..

Dears,

I have a question about Packet Tracer.

I planed a topology with Packet Tracer, and I put in the Distribution Layer a 3560-24PS Switch which support a routing features, but when I trying to implement a Static Route the command go through without problem but I didn't find it the routing table.

So please I need to know how to add routes in this switch and If there are a command to apply the routing on it.

There was a drag and drop security question in my exam which I never see in any dumps. This was related to Antivirus, antispyware, firewall and IDS.

If you know antispyware is used to protect your system from stealing your personal information, antivirus protects systems from files which damages your systems, firewall filters trafic based on IP address and IDS is a Wireless security appliance then you can answer this question.

@@alt,

In frame relay question, you are allowed to login to only one router. Question will specify clearly and you will see a dotted line console connection from the router to host. You have to click on this host and run the Show frame-relay map and show running-config commands. All questions can be answered from these show command output. Refer the frame relay map simlet at 9tut, you can answer any question if you know the concept.

If no authentication is there(but PPP is there) should i go for the NO PASSWRD REQUIRED..

Again one another qstn........from that fram relay sim..

no one cleared about the no of encapsulation ...............

When a packet is sent from Host 1 to Server 1, in how many different frames will the packet be encapsulated as it is sent across the internetwork?

A - 0
B - 1
C - 2
D - 3
E - 4

I just wanna know what should i write....2 times or 3 times....plz help.
alt 11-02-2009
@Mehdi,

If PPP authentication is not configured in an interface, then you should select NO PASSWORD REQUIRED(though the interface is using PPP encapsulation).
alt 11-03-2009
@vergaman

In CCNA exam none of the labs need you to check router configuration for ip subnet-zero. Question will clearly specify to select particular(like third or sixth or last) usable ip address in a given subnet(this is for RIPv2 simulation).
arbaz 11-03-2009
@ Mehedi
For the question

When a packet is sent from Host 1 to Server 1, in how many different frames will the packet be encapsulated as it is sent across the internetwork?

you should choose '3'
i.e. eth,,hdlc,eth.
for further ref. plz see the comments on that page. you'll get a good understanding.

I got 1000/1000

So now I'm able to clarify some doubts I even had before the exam

1.- For those asking about using or not using classless networks when configuring RIPv2, i can tell you I used classless addresses. Anyway, when you perform a show running-config you will see it as a classful.

2.- I was wondering if typos would count as negative marks in labs, well I had some and still got 1000

3.- A big question I noticed here was about the FR Lab regarding the password. You have to perform a show running-config and look for USERNAME and PASSWORD.
i.e.
username South_Router password c0nsol3
username North_Router password t31net

Obviously this has to be en PPP encapsulation, if asked for a posible password for SOUTH_ROUTER you pick c0nsol3, and for NORTH_ROUTER you pick t31net. If you're running HDLC, i would pick "no password is required"
anton 11-03-2009
My recommendations would be:

-Todd Lammle book

-Youtube videos aids (Lammle's doesnt explain quite clear STP, EIGRP and OSPF functionality, like how they converge and that kind of stuff. He does explain how to troubleshoot and configure)

-Master subnetting (If you've been really practicing, this will happen automatically)

-You can also use Chris Bryant videos on youtube. Those are helpful quizzes, but not really good explanations.

Hi Anton,

Regarding the question below, do you have to do sh running-config on South router and North router individually to find the username and passwords.

3.- A big question I noticed here was about the FR Lab regarding the password. You have to perform a show running-config and look for USERNAME and PASSWORD.
i.e.
username South_Router password c0nsol3
username North_Router password t31net

Bad explanation about FR question..

"Obviously this has to be en PPP encapsulation, if asked for a posible password for SOUTH_ROUTER you pick c0nsol3, and for NORTH_ROUTER you pick t31net. If you're running HDLC, i would pick "no password is required""

It has to be an PPP encapsulation, not necessarily an HDLC, and it is still be "no password is required".

For example:

int s0/0
encapsulation ppp

int s/1
default (hdlc)

no password required..

but if

int s0/0
encapsulation ppp
ppp authentication chap/pap

password required...

The main words are "ppp authentication". If the interface has it, than you need a password from

username South_Router password c0nsol3
username North_Router password t31net
Orac1e 11-04-2009
@Jen

You have access only to one central router (that to what the PC connected), so you write commands only on it.

After you write sh run you need to find an interface that connected to branch router (from draw) and view if it has an

encapsulation ppp
ppp authentication chap/pap

for ppp authentication required the username (hostname) of neighbor (point-to-point) router and the password. You will find it in

username South_Router password c0nsol3
username North_Router password t31net

where username the hostname of branch router (in question) and corresponding password..

gr8 site though i jus fond it 3 days back and now my confidence is sky high for sims.
anton 11-04-2009
@Orac1le

This is what i got in the exam (pretty much)

---------------------------------------------------------------
!
username South_Router password c0nsol3
username North_Router password t31net
!
.
.
.
int s0/0 //the one for South_Router
encapsulation ppp

int s/1 //the one for North_Router
default (hdlc)
.
.
.
!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

It did NOT have the PPP authentication, so that's why the question asked "if REQUIRED a password ..." in other words, it is implied that if you are going to use a password, PPP authentication would be in use, and the password to be used has to be taken from what is already stated (username and password).

Orac1e, I got 1000/1000 (not bragging) so that's why I think I'm able to explain that question
anton 11-04-2009
@Orac1e

I was saying that if you're running HDLC you dont need a password, since it doesnt support authentication
Jen 11-04-2009

@anton @Orac1e

why there is such a long disscussion!!

Its a simple concept, the authentication is "optional" in PPP. It doesnt mean that if we are running on PPP we always need password(authentication)!! If we are using authentication(PAP or CHAP) then only we need a password!

As the example given by 9tut goes-

#
Its clear from the running-config that, that only S1/3 is using ppp with authentication. So password & hostname will be needed for NorthCentral & Dubai router to communicate, which can be found by show run!
arbaz 11-05-2009
^correction in the last line^

password & "username" will be needed for North Central& Router to.......

Thankyou so much for ur view. I passed my CCNA a month ago, Now i got a chance to work in MPLS from my office & im thinking of higher cetification in MPLS what do u suggest???????
arbaz 11-06-2009
@Anonymous

as you have ccna, for higher certification in MPLS you can go for professional course. you can opt "642-611 MPLS"
Its totally dedicated for MPLS.
Its a good choice of urs to go for MPLS as most of the organisations are using mpls tech. or they are in a process of migration.

Good Luck!! :-)
ciscoenthusiast2204 11-06-2009
hi all,

took the ccna exams this week. studied only materials from here online, testking and pass4sre.mastered the sims, but it wasnt enough to get me through. yes the sims were ripv2, nat and frame relay.i got them all sims well and completed the scenarios. different ips of course. my bad i failed it. i got overwhelmed by the cidr and subnetting multiple questions. it took a toll on me. wasted opportunity and money. id be raising funds to get a chance again. take note also vlan from switches
best wishes to all

Hi ,
Passed CCNA today with 916 marks study material CBT nuggets ,train signal ,9tut for sims, p4s and testinside v26
all the questions were from testinside. Only testinside and 9tut is enough to pass this exam
all the sims were from 9tut
i got FR,RIPv2 and NAT sims.
Subnetting is essential.

Can someonehelp with a CDP Question?
Using pass4sue, I had a quesion:

What are two reason why a network administrator would use CDP?
I chose:
To Verify Cabling type between devices
TO Verify layer two connectivity
This was wrong apparently.

The answer "is"
To Verify layer two blah blah
and
To obtain IP Address's???
Now, I have a home lab here (3 X 3620's and 2 X 2950's). I cannot see IP Info using ANY of the cdp commands?
I can work out the cable type from the interfaces used and I can confirm that layer two is working by the fact that I can see the neighbours.

Can someone put me right on this? I'm worried i am "learning" the wrong stuff here. I thought I had it cracked. There are a few other questions which I am sure are wrong........

Hi,
First of all I'd like to thank 9tut. You're the best.
I passed CCNA exam (1000/1000) ;)
I confirm that all the questions were from testinside v26.

i failed the test twice and got the same 816 mark!!! which drove me crazy!!
I got 100% over three parts. but it's the "wan implementation" part that's getting me down with 12% success only!! if that's the part related to frame relay i'd be shocked cuz i remember getting them all right!!
I've studied p4s 8.03 and TI v26.
Best of luck for everyone!

subnetting is key.. you have to know your cidr and vlsm well... in and out. If you don't get these concepts then you shouldn't even pay to sit for the test... and you certainly shouldnt be a ccna.

subnetting was a barrier for me... i picked up lammle's book ... if you are having trouble with subnetting pick up his book ... go through the subnetting chapter in its entirety and you will be all set.

and learn to count by 16's to 256 ;-)

Hello guys

passed the CCNA today 8/11. Thanks god it was so easy, all the questions are from P4S 7.73 3rd september update, the one at the top and IPv6 questions came from testinside v.26. The simulation were from the same version of pass4sure and 9tut.com.

An advise: if u used the P4Sand the testinside just as revision tools and to test urself before entering the exam, u will find the exam so easy and it will take less than an hour to finish, maybe also less than 40 mins ;)

If you use these as ur studying tool, u can pass by luck but it will be so hard... or, u may not pass at all.

Best regards and wishes to all working hard people.

Anton, thanks pal, ur answer to the question is 100% right as I got the same score also ;)

hello guys..

i passed my ccna exam just this afternoon. i only had roughly 4 weeks to prepare and i'm really happy that i made it. Most of the 48 questions from the exam were also in the Pass4sure v8.14 and all the lab sims i encountered are all here in 9tut. i also used testking v23 and CCNA Exam Prep by Jeremy Cioara et al.(this two sources really helped me a lot) I got RipV2, FR, NAT, DHCP. I think there were new questions i have never encountered before(can't really remember them though, sorry).

with regards to subnetting, writing this before the exam starts could really help:

128 192 224 240 248 252 254 255 netmask
/25 /26 /27 /28 /29 /30 /31 /32 CIDR notation

SUBNETTING FEVER 11-12-2009
Suppose you have a Class C IP address of 200.133.175.0, and you want to break the network into 6 subnets of 30 nodes each, which limits us to 180 nodes.
To accomplish this, we need to use a subnet mask 3 bits long.
255.255.255.224 (11111111.11111111.11111111.11100000)
This gives us 6 possible network numbers, 2 of which cannot be used.

Subnet bits, Subnet Address, Node Addresses, Broadcast Address
000, 200.133.175.0, Reserved, None
001, 200.133.175.32, .33 thru .62, 200.133.175.63

SUBNETTING FEVER 11-12-2009

I think this is becouse no ip subnet zero commands is entering.
Cisco has turned this command on by default starting with Cico IOS v12.x. In this state you can use first (200.133.175.0) and last (200.133.175.224) subnet.
To disabe this you must enter no ip subnet zero. In this state you can not use first and last subnet.

From "CCENT/CCNA ICND1 Exam Certification Guide 2nd edition by Wendell Odom"

Chapter 12: IP Addressing and Subnetting, page 360

"In some cases,
two of the subnets in a single classful IP network are reserved, and should not be used. In
other cases, these two subnets are not reserved, and can be used. This section describes
these two subnets, and explains when they can be used, and when they cannot be used.
The first of the two possibly reserved subnets in a network is called the zero subnet, or
subnet zero. Of all the subnets of the classful network, it has the smallest numeric value.
The subnet number of the zero subnet also happens to always be the exact same number as
the classful network number itself. For example, for Class B network 150.150.0.0, the zero
subnet number would be 150.150.0.0—which creates a bit of ambiguity at first glance. This
ambiguity is one of the reasons that the zero subnet was first reserved.
The other of the two possibly reserved subnets is called the broadcast subnet. It is the
largest numeric subnet number in a network. The reason why this subnet was not used at
one point in time relates to the fact that this subnet’s broadcast address—used to send one
packet to all hosts in the subnet—happens to be the same number as the network-wide
broadcast address. For example, a packet sent to address 150.150.255.255 might mean
ā€œsend this packet to all hosts in Class B network 150.150.0.0,ā€ but in other cases mean that
the packet should be delivered to just all the hosts in a single subnet. This ambiguity in the
meaning of a broadcast address is the reason why such subnets were avoided.
To succeed in real networking jobs and on the exams, you need to be able to determine
when a zero subnet and broadcast subnet can be used. If allowed, the formula for the
number of subnets is 2s, where s is the number of subnet bits; if not allowed, the formula
for the number of subnets is 2s – 2, which essentially does not count these two special
subnets. Also, the exams might ask you to pick subnets to use, and part of that question
might require you to figure out which subnets are zero subnets and broadcast subnets, and
to know if these should be used.
For the exams, three main factors dictate when you can use these two subnets, and when
you cannot. First, if the routing protocol is classless, use these two subnets, but if the
routing protocol is classful, do not use these two subnets. (Chapter 14, ā€œRouting Protocol
Concepts and Configuration,ā€ explains the terms classless routing protocol and classful
routing protocol; the details are not important for now.) Additionally, if the question uses
VLSM—the practice of using different masks in the same classful network—then the two
special subnets are allowed.
The third factor that defines whether the two special subnets should be used is based on a
global configuration command: ip subnet zero. If configured, this command tells the router
that an IP address in a zero subnet can be configured on an interface. If the opposite is
configured—the no ip subnet zero command—then an IP address in a zero subnet cannot
be configured. Note that the ip subnet zero command is a default setting in Cisco IOS,
meaning that IOS allows the zero subnet by default. So, if the ip subnet zero command is
configured, or not listed, then the zero subnet and the other special subnet, the broadcast
subnet, are both allowed.
Of particular importance, for the CCNA exams, if a question simply does not give any clues
as to whether to allow these two special subnets or not, assume you can use these subnets,
and use the 2s formula.
Now, back to the core purpose of this chapter. The remainder of the chapter will assume
that these two special subnets can be used, but it will also point out how to identify these
two special subnets to prepare you for the exam."

Can anyone know from where i can get the MCSE dumps...?????
Anon 11-12-2009
Guys,

Reference the RIPv2 sim:
I configured everything correct but I noticed that the other router does not have RIP enabled at all? Am I looking too deep into this?
In other words, do I need to go to the second router and configure it there too? The questions just says to configure router R2-RC but does it imply that you must "test" rip?

I entered sh cdp neigh and could only see the switch from R2-RC, not the router..... Can someone please clarify? The sim does not appear to request any confirmation that RIP is indeed working correctly by asking for a ping test or anything. Would I lose points if I configured the second router to work with RIP????

Cheers all

I think in real exam sim will work correctly. This RIPv2 sim just build in PT to give you undestending what you shuld to do in real exam - and perhaps forgot to configure second router.
But if real exam sim will work like this-you must configure second router too - cos your network must work corectly and ping requests must be sucsefull.

when i wrote the exam, they only want to configure that router with ripv2 which was connected to console pc they didnt asked to check it. like in NAT sim they mentioned that if you are able to ping the ISP router then its correct. srinivasan 11-16-2009
hi every1 thanks for 9tut and tat chineese forum cleared ccna 2de wit 930.............al questions were from v26 test inside .got frame relay nat(pat) and ripv2 ......questions were al 100%from v26 word by word and choice also....
in that frame relay hot spot password question i wud like 2 insist tat the answer not necessarily be "no password required".....it depends upon ur show run command output which displays a password for each connxn in my case it was console .....
9tut 11-16-2009

AL 11-16-2009
Hi all!
I have Passed CCNA Exam with a score of 874 today on 16-Nov-2009.
i did the prepration from pass4sure dump but thanks to 9tut.com the last two days before the examination i have chechk this site and read all the question from this website i have no idea about the labs. but i must say 9tut.com made every thing so easy and understandable that any one who get the guidance from here will surely pass the exam as every buddy say abut this chinese form site i have also check these by reading all the questions once 90% of the questions are same like in pass4sure and there are 10% some new type of multipule choice question. let me provide you the short details of the exam i hav given today there were total.

>48 qustions
>three labs

Most of the question are of initial level like gernal multiple choices questions of
>Wan
>subnetting,
>Addressing scheeme,
>Switches STP, VTP
>Arp
>Special focas is need to be on Drop and Drag question
because i feel most of the questions are of drop and drag,

I got three labs configuration which are of
>RIP V.2,
>Frame-relay
>NAT

All these lab were as it is as it was describe line by line on 9tut.com but the ip addresses and devices names in labs was different. most of the people due to first experience of exam get puzzle and even if they know the answer they did it right during labs the and (?) key do works same as it do on packet tracer or router cli for completing command and finding what to write next to complete the command.

1."NAT LAB Experience"

My first lab was of NAT which i completely learn from 9tut.com but when i put the commands which learn it was showing incomplete command, i write the command two time but the outcome message was %incomplete command than with the help of i write the complete command and it works when i did the complete configuration as per the required question and ping the ISP from the host to complete the lab, the ping was unsuccessful i got dishearted that i did wrong, at that time i feel that now i am going to fail because the lab was right after first ten question and i feel that if the first lab goes wrong, every thing onward and i did before will also be wrong to check once again where i try once again to figure out the problem before going to next question. i again open the router cli from console and put the command
router#show running-config
when i come at the end of this command outcome i found that the ip address i terminate on command #access-list i permit 182.16.2.16 0.0.0.15 was wrong, actual ip was starting from 192 not from 182. i became happy i delet the wrong command by typing
Router(config)#no Access-list 1 permit
on global onfiguration mode and rewrite the command again with correct ip and the ping from host to ISP to check again the command works and it starts ping from Host to ISP after that i bacame more confident that i can make to win the exam.

2."FRAME-RELAY LAB Experience"

During Frame-relay lab i did as it is, as it was describe in 9tut.com i open the console from topology give the commands on on cli
Router# show frame-relay map
& Router# show running-config
to check the dlci numbers and ip address associated with the interfaces and answer the four question as per the requirement there was the same question about which many people comments below.

Question 4:

If required, what password should be configured on the router in the MidEast branch office to allow a connection to be established with the Dubai router?

A - No password is required
B - Enable
C - Scr
D - Telnet
E - Console

Answer: D

This question is not clear for a long time but now maybe the trick was solved. What Cisco wants to ask is the word used as password, not the type of connection, so in the exam you might see some strange words for answers like "En8ble", "T1net", "C0nsole". All you have to do is to use the command "show running-config" as wx4 mentioned below to find the answer.

wx4 commented:

Q4: if password required which?
in my example it was connection to North!

How to figure out which pw is required?

#show running-config

1. check the interface to the router you need connection to. If there is "ppp authentication" you need a password!

2. you will find the password on the top of your running-config output

check the area:

username North password c0nsole
username xxxxx yyyyy
username...

in my case it was c0nsole, in your case it can be no password needed or a different password.

If you are still not clear, please read anton's comment:

A big question I noticed here was about the FR Lab regarding the password.

If you're running HDLC, i would pick "no password is required".

--> i also did as they told and i got the answer it was on
#show running-config
and my answer was {Console} there were other routers Username and password was also written in the out come such as in my case the command show out come

i.e.
username North-Branch password c0nsol3
username South password t31net
username North password Enable

and i choose {Console} as the answer of North-branch password which belongs to my question.

3."During RIP V.2 lab"

i first write all the commands on my eraseable board which was provided by the centre for the rough work it save my time and minimize mistakes which i can do during configurationi write these things.
1 Host name
2 password for Enable secret, Console, and VTY
3 FA0/0 & S0/0/0 ip addresses and required netmask
4 router rip V.2 commands etc
and than write that on the CLI to complete the Lab.

In the end i would like thanks the whole team of 9tut.com for there help and those people who share theirs experiences on this website for the new candidates who are perparing for the examinations and remember to learn subnetting because without that no one can passed as most of the or we can say all the Questions is exame have subnetting ip's i learn the cheat sheet and before starting my exam i wrote that on my erasable board provide by the exam centre for rough work. it save my time and i able to answer all the questions.

Hi, i find this site great. I`m going for exam Friday nad have some questions to ask;

1. Is it real that new questions not in v26(293) have now been added. someone pls help.

2. Also, for RIPv2 question, is there need to configure s0/0 with clockrate. Can i also add no auto-summary after advertising the networks for RIPv2.

3. Is the order in which u drag items(drag & drop questions) to target really relevant. Pass4sure fails any question for me if not in its own order e.g the transport layer items- UDP, windowing and segments. I feel i could just drag any of these and drop in any order provide they`re all under the transport layer.

4. 44 or 48 questions- 2hrs 0r 90mins. which is really which?

Tnks in Advance.

Hi All,

Did exam yesterday, I had 1000. All sections 100%. Got 3 labs- Nat, Ripv2 and Frame-relay.

Dove, i felt like you b4 exam. All question in testinside 293q except one on Wan links. I think the wan link questions is not scored. I learnt during the preview that some questions are not scored.

Thanks a million to 9tut. U`re Rare. I found this site and have not found any other. People here are good.

See u at the CCNP forum.

Goodluck.

Fred
9tut 11-21-2009
@DOVE: The TI and 9tut can help you pass the exam only if you grasped the concept well.

For more information about the CCNA exam, please read topic CCNA FAQs & tips: http://www.9tut.com/ccna-faqs-a-tips
Fred 11-21-2009

105. Your ISP has given you the address 223.5.14.6/29 to assign to your router's interface. They have also
given you the default gateway address of 223.5.14.7. After you have configured the address, the router is
unable to ping any remote devices. What is preventing the router from pinging remote devices?
A. The default gateway is not an address on this subnet.
B. The default gateway is the broadcast address for this subnet.
C. The IP address is the broadcast address for this subnet.
D. The IP address is an invalid class D multicast address.

Answer: B

how is it answer B ??

for this network 223.5.14.8 is the broadcast address right??
glen 11-22-2009
sorry for the query three times..browser issue but pls reply
david 11-22-2009
Which of the following host addresses are members of networks that can be routed across the public
Internet? (Choose three.)
A. 10.172.13.65
B. 172.16.223.125
C. 172.64.12.29
D. 192.168.23.252
E. 198.234.12.95
F. 212.193.48.254
Answer: CEF

how to find that out?
Fred 11-22-2009
David, this comes from knowing your address ranges.
A 10.0.0.0 through 10.255.255.255
B 172.16.0.0 through 172.31.0.0
C 192.168.0.0 through 192.168.255.0
Don 11-22-2009
Hi David,

There are 3 addresses set aside for Private use by the IETF. They are:

Class A- 10.x.x.x
Class B- 172.16.x.x
Class C- 192.168.x.x

These addresses are reserved for private use and cannot be routed across the public internet. All other addresses outside this range are Public addresses except of course the loopback(127.0.0.1) and other special ones.

Look at the options one at a time. U need check out those that follow above patterrn.

A is (10).172.13.65 this is class A private
B is (172.16).223.125 this is class B private
C is 172.64.12.29 Public
D is (192.168).23.252 this is class C private
E is 198.234.12.95 Public
F is 212.193.48.254 Public

So Ans are C,E,F. I hope u`re cleared on this.

The exam simple, do master subnetting and understand all questions in Tiv26(293q) and u`re just good to go.

Welcome.
Fred 11-22-2009
Glen,

223.5.14.6/29 with a /29 mask.

25 26 27 28 29
128 64 32 16 8

So we now see our increment is 8

0-7
8-15
16-31

So we can see by the 7 is a broadcast for the subnet and six would be a host or useable.
@glen 11-22-2009
for 223.5.14.6/29 network... block size 8

network id is 223.5.14.0
broadcast is 223.5.14.7

valid addresses are .1-.6

so the answer is: B. The default gateway is the broadcast address for this subnet.
Don 11-22-2009
Hi Glen,

223.5.14.6/29 has block size of 8. I hope u know this. So its easy to know that 14.6 belongs to the zero subnet consisting of IP addresses 14.0 - 14.7( if u count, u will find that this gives u a block of 8 in all i.e 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7). 1st address is network address ( 14.0) and last address is Broadcast address (14.7)

Others can be assigneed to hosts in the subnetwork. I do hope you understand.

Pls note that Subnetting Skill iis what u`re most tested for in CCNA, so make sure u get grounded well in that b4 going for the exam.

Further questions are welcome.

Take care.

GLEN 11-23-2009
Which two subnetworks would be included in the summarized address of 172.31.80.0 /20? (Choose
two.)
A. 172.31.17.4 /30
B. 172.31.51.16 /30
C. 172.31.64.0 /18
D. 172.31.80.0 /22
E. 172.31.92.0 /22
F. 172.31.192.0 /18

ANS: DE

WAT IS SUMMARISED ADDRESS?? PLS EXPLAIN FOR THIS EXAMPLE...
poo 11-23-2009
@GLEN - you start with 172.31.80.0 the converting /20 you should get the increment of 16. Add 16 to your given and you get 172.31.96.0.

so any summarized route from 172.31.80.0 ~ 172.31.96.0 should be the answer, therefore D&E.

I search for people on joint preparation for CCNA exam. If is such - respond. We will help and impart experience.
CCNA certified 11-23-2009
@mohammed:
Dude just be cool and take the exam... even if the questions are changed there would be maximum questions from the previous dumps... Cisco just adds questions to its pool of questions. It never creates all new questions again from scratch...
Mohammed 11-23-2009
Thank you Mr. Certified :)

I feel better now :)

HI EVERYONE ,

Cleared the exam yesterday with a score 976/1000 , threw a small party for my bro and a couple of friends and proposed the first toast to 9TUT..

CHEERS TO THE ADMIN AND TECH GUYS HERE for THEIR VERY VALUABLE INFOS..

@Everyone who is appearing for the exam

* ' ? ' works for the labs questions where u have to configure the router but you cannot use the tab key or the Cntrl key

* For the multiple choice sim questions all the keys work.

If i hadnt visited this site i would have sat studying the 503 questions in p4s..instead I studied only Ti v26 dumps and 9tut sims..each and every word , every exhibit , including the order of the multiple choices for the exam appeared exactly as it was shown in the dumps..
I did exactly wat 9tut told me and gave the importance in the last minute to learn subnetting and the concepts.that helped me because the "NAT LAB i had was having differnt prefix length and number of hosts
