For this question we only need to use the show running-config command to answer all the questions below

Which will fix the issue and allow ONLY ping to work while keeping telnet disabled?

A - Correctly assign an IP address to interface fa0/1

D - Remove access-group 102 out from interface s0/0/0 and add access-group 114 in

Explanation:

Let's have a look at the access list 104:

accesslist_sim_answer1

The question does not ask about ftp traffic so we don't care about the two first lines. The 3rd line denies all telnet traffic and the 4th line allows icmp traffic to be sent (ping). Remember that the access list 104 is applied on the inbound direction so the 5th line "access-list 104 deny icmp any any echo-reply" will not affect our icmp traffic because the "echo-reply" message will be sent over the outbound direction.

Question 2:

What would be the effect of issuing the command ip access-group 114 in to the fa0/0 interface?

A - Attempts to telnet to the router would fail
B - It would allow all traffic from the 10.4.4.0 network
C - IP traffic would be passed through the interface but TCP and UDP traffic would not

Question 3:

Explanation:

First let's see what was configured on interface S0/0/1:

accesslist_sim_answer3

Recall that each interface only accepts one access-list, so when using the command “ip access-group 115 in” on the s0/0/1 interface it will overwrite the initial access-list 102. Therefore any telnet connection will be accepted (so we can eliminate answer C).
B is not correct because if telnet and ping can work then routing updates can, too.
D is not correct because access-list 115 does not mention about 10.4.4.0 network. So the most reasonable answer is A.

But here raise a question…

The wildcard mask of access-list 115, which is 255.255.255.0, means that only host with ip addresses in the form of x.x.x.0 will be accepted. But we all know that x.x.x.0 is likely to be a network address so the answer A: “no host could connect to Router through s0/0/1” seems right…

But what will happen if we don’t use a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0? For example we can use an ip address of 10.45.45.0 255.255.0.0, such a host with that ip address exists and we can connect to the router through that host. Now answer A seems incorrect!

Please comment if you have any idea for this sim!

Hi Mohamed, the exam has recently changed and so has p4s. They came out with a new version yesterday but seems like their website says it's an update on 25-Feb

I would say that it isn't a bad idea to wait for the new p4s, but again if you are reasonably confident just go for it already! The change isn't dramatical, there are stiff few q's off 3.22

9tut- could you expand of your scenario; i still dont see how there can be an IP address for a host that ends in 0 (regardless of subnet mask). I think 0 will always be network address..

so there is ip 0.0.0.0 with that WILCARD.. it means.. WRONG

becaose any host never has 0 in last octect. So the good answer is A

The New P4S is out I am contemplating purchasing as I have a retake on Monday and my last test on this last monday was quite a bit different and I only scored a 734. This is my last chance. Does anyone have it before I add another 100.00 to my 250.00 retake this is my 4th try. I have already purchased other test aids with no results, after a year and $1K I really need this, my career is on the line. Any ideas would help. If I could get someone that passed it recently to give me some advice on how to study this material so I retain it. Would make the purchace a lot easier on me.

To sal: Because the subnet mask is 255.255.0.0 so our the new range of our network is from 10.45.0.0 to 10.45.255.255 (now the address 10.45.45.0 is no longer the network address) and we can assign it to a host.

I received this question from a friend and haven't had the dump yet...

kenneth, im sure everyone here will be able to help as long as we have the copy of questions that we can brainstorm. i, too will be taking my CCNA exam this third week of march and like everybody else, afraid to fail the exam. i think the best method will still be to practice those lab/hot spot questions using packet tracer or other router simulators and to understand the answers to the questions rather than to memorize it. and of course to check out 9tut site for help! :)

I have gone through the labs from 9tut.com multiple times in packet tracer, I will go through them again this weekend. Does anyone know if there is much difference to the "preperation Labs" that P4S sells? I really need to pass but I am bleeding out money on these test aids and failed attempts. I just took the exam few hours ago. Fortunately, I passed. Hints based on what I got:

CCNA Configuration SIM Question (But with different values and requirements for the IP address
CCNA NAT Sim
Hotspot Frame-relay Question

I got several Drag and Drop questions, 5 I think which are not the same as the questions in P4S and here 9tut.

For Multiple choice:
I got almost all questions from P4S and 9tut (including some of the questions provided by Greg here, the one with screenshots).

So far that's what I can remember and what I can share with you guys.

My understanding is that when the acl 106 is applied in the outbound direction the "echo request" will be allowed and the " echo reply" is already permitted so it will also be allowed. This leads to a working "ping".

Remind me please if i am missing any point here

Ok implcit deny can be the answer for my question ?? or ? There is also alternative way to make the ping work remove acl 106 and add it again with slight modification at the end :access-list 106 permit icmp any any as :Offcourse this is not in the choice for the question

To gech: An access list can't filter packets originated from the router so if we change the access list 106 from "in" to "out" then it has no effect and we still can telnet to it. By filtering from the inbound direction, we can filter packets that don't originate from the router.

In fact, if we want to prevent telnet from outside, we should apply an access list on the vty lines of the router. If we just apply access list on an interface like above, someone can telnet through another interface and access to the router.

from p4s v3.22, I think question 333 is correct but question 17 seems with wrong answers. Switch B's ports are both in forwarding state in my opinion.

The Segment Between Switch B and Seitch A must have Disgnated Port. because Switch A is lower BID than B so Port of Switch A will be Disgnated Port (in forwarding state) and Port of Switch B for this segment Will be in blocking state .

Siwtch A port fa0/1 is the Root port
Siwtch B port Gi0/1 is the Root port
Siwtch D port Gi0/2 is the Root port

But I think it is the path cost the matters first to choose the designated port in a segment. If path cost for both interfaces in the segment is equal then you choose the BID.
If you noticed Q333 interface Fa0/2 of switch A is designated in the choice but it is wrong according to the answers(B, C, and D).
Please compare again Q17 and Q333 in p4s v3.22

To gech: The answers in p4s are correct. Gi0/1 of SwitchB will be blocked because the path cost from SwitchC -> SwitchA -> SwitchB ( = Cost of Fa0/1 of SwitchC + Cost of Fa0/2 of SwitchA) > path cost from SwitchC -> SwitchD -> SwitchB (= Cost of Fa0/2 of SwitchC + Cost of Gi0/1 of SwitchD).

Recall that if more than one link leads to the root bridge, then cumulative outbound port costs along the path to the root bridge becomes the factor used to determine which port will be the root port for that device. So Gi0/1 of SwitchB will be the root port (forwarding state) while Gi0/2 of SwitchB will be in blocking state.

9 TUT, you seem to contradict yourself here. You say at begging of your explanation that "Gi0/1 of Switch B will be blocked", then at very end of your answer "Gi0/2 of Switch B will be in blocking state" They can't both be blocking ?

Sorry, it's a typo. Gi0/1 of Switch B will be the root port while Gi0/2 will be in blocking state.

Fa0/2 of Switch A will be the designated port, p4s mistyped somewhere.

Im referring to the Configuration Sim posted here under CCNA Lab Sim. The different values that im referring to are the IP addresses for the interfaces of the router. Here it says the last assignable IP address but in the exam it is a different requirement. On my exam i was required to get the second assignable IP address. Of course the Subnets are different in the real exam.

Hi to all,

I have taken the exam yesterday and the exam was different from P4S.. i would like to thanks 9tut though i failed because i got some of keypoints because of this site.

I've only encoutered 4 Sim Question. the CCNA ACL Sim, NAT sim, Rip v2, and the Hotspot Frame-relay Question. I just want to emphasize the Hotspot Frame-relay Question. Is this included on the WAN category? i think it is.. I've experienced a glitch on my exam regarding this question. When i tried to access the console and press enter, a window would appear and ask if i would proceed. i didn't click the yes button (afraid that it might skip and proceed to the next question.) so i called the proctor to ask for assistance. unfortunately, they do not know also what to do and said that if click yes, it will proceed to the next question. I've done everything to access the console but i cant so i said to the proctor that i would click the yes button and her as my witness.

unfortunately, i guessed right. i've got 0% on the WAN category when they've handed me the result since the question was skipped. she said that she will raise this concern to Cisco hoping that they will consider. ( i hope so!!! )

i am also confident on my IP addressing scheme because i carefully answered all but i only got 50%. i hope there was no glitch on their score computation because i became skeptic on the whole process.

Anyways, There nothing i can do but wait for Cisco considerations or i'm gonna take take again the exam next week. :(

I will try to recall all the new questions i've encountered.

Last thing..

there was only one question for frame-relay i've encountered. (unfortunately there was a glitch on that part. i thought i could have nailed all of it (Hotspot Frame-relay Question).

On the multiple choice questions, there was no frame-relay questions (wan questions) appeared on my exam.

9tut on Question 3 the answer is easily A because the wildcard mask of 255.255.255.0 means that ZERO must match in the host octet. No host can ever end with Zero as thats the network ID. So of course no host can enter through that port.

I can’t download the pkt file either. And I was confused with Question 3, so I created a pka file with Packet Tracer 5.1 to verify the answer. I also integrated the questions and the answers which were copied from 9tut to the scene. Thank 9tut for the incredible explanation. You can download my virtual lab file from: http://www.valit.ca/lab/ccna_access_list_sim.zip. Unfortunately, you have to use Packet Tracer 5.1 to open the pka file, it won’t work in 5.0. I am still confused with Question 3, because with Packet Tracer 5.1, I can assign 10.46.46.0 and 3.3.3.0 to 2 PCs, telnet and ping 10.45.45.1, I turn one of the routers off and then turn it on, the EIGRP routing updates seem no problem at all!

It seems none of the answers are correct. Download the pka file and play around, if you find the right answer, please let us know.

I think that in the Output of Show Running-Config; under acces-list 115, it is shown as:- access-list 115 permit ip 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.0 any. But 255.255.255.0 is a Subnet mask, and not a Wilcard Mask..

Plz clarify it...

To Aman: In this case 255.255.255.0 is a wildcard mask, maybe you feel it a bit weird but it will permit x.x.x.0 addresses to go through

Hi all.

I passed my CCNA (640-802) today. I used CBT Nuggets ICND1 & 2, Todd Lammle - CCNA IOS Command, Packet Tracer for labs, 9tut.com and Sadikhov (Awesome websites) for further studies and research and P4S v3.22 (Note that there is an update to this version with 503 questions)

Study hard and understand the concepts. I found quite a number of new questions but all labs/sims were the same but with modifications.

I just try to explain for you

first, you need to analize the octet where yours octed not coincide, in this case 172 and 1 is commom for all address, the next octed is variable. The answer 172.1.4.0/22 is correct due the commom bits in the address involved in this summarization is as show below:

why 22?

The first and second octet you are using all bits = 8+8=16
the 3rd octet you are using only 6 bits regardind the common bits to summarizing this address, thus, you increase in your 16 bits previous plus 6 16+6 = 22

if you need to know what is your subnet masc for this summarization address, its iqual to 255.255.252.0

I have taken the exam yesterday and the exam was different from P4S.. i would like to thanks 9tut though i failed because i got some of keypoints because of this site.

I've only encoutered 4 Sim Question. the CCNA ACL Sim, NAT sim, Rip v2, and the Hotspot Frame-relay Question. I just want to emphasize the Hotspot Frame-relay Question. Is this included on the WAN category? i think it is.. I've experienced a glitch on my exam regarding this question. When i tried to access the console and press enter, a window would appear and ask if i would proceed. i didn't click the yes button (afraid that it might skip and proceed to the next question.) so i called the proctor to ask for assistance. unfortunately, they do not know also what to do and said that if click yes, it will proceed to the next question.

Please do advise asap i need to know it, i'll taking my exam tomorrow..

Your suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

To etronix: It is really sad if we encounter a problem like that and nothing else we can do. In that situation, the proctor will not be much helpful and we have to click "next" to ignore that question (of course we will lose points for that question). But fortunately you rarely get into that situation.

If u have studied theory in depth, u can pass exam. I finished 20 minutes earlier. most of questions were from p4s and 9tut.

Today I did my CCNA. God bless my friend who showed me this website. I owe my comments to this website.

I got this lengthy ACL simulation. Watch for the numbers in there. Donot just cram. I also got simulation for RIP2. Couple of hot spots. I got 4 Qs on IPV6. I just guessed them which were most likely not correct. Donot miss this portion otherwise you might be pushing your luck. I got total 44 Qs. Passing marks were 82.5%. According to my percentage I got five Qs wrong which include 4 from IPV6. So I should say I was quite lucky.

Most of the questions were from this website plus P4S v3.22 with little twist. I wish I remembered the Qs to add here. I will recommend you donot need any material more than this. Now, very soon I am going for ONT.

Hi guys,

Just took my CCNA exam a few hours ago.

Lucky enough, i passed( got 832/1000).

The exam had 44 questions, 4 of which were simulations(3 from 9tut).

Note: For one of the other simulation, i was supposed to use commands to get its configuration information to answer some questions, the damn this refused the command, Router#show mac-address-table, the tutor was unable to help me so i guessed and proceeded !

Advice:
1. Please know sub netting very well.
2. P4S v3.22 can be of great help.
3. For simulations, understand well the one in 9tut.

I passes CCNA today, new p4s dumps are very helpful and all labs are form 9tut with changed IPs,some new options are added and i get 2 or 3 new questions not unseen.old questions are altered with new answers.overall test was easy and u need to have very good understanding of sub netting and not good rather very good practice of 9tut labs.You will surely pass

Q.109---> the question clearly says that from the lowest layer.. obviously its frm the data link layer.. the p4s answer is wrong

Q.163---> the network p4s has 120 host... so the the subnetmask should be /25 because 32- 25 = 7 so the No. of host = 2^n -2 = 2^7-2= 126...

the p4s5 rtr has network 172.16.3.96/27 so the range is frm 96 to 128.. so u cant assign 192.16.3.112 because it falls between that range...(please correct me if i am wrong) so the address 172.16.3.0/30. /30 for point to point interfaces...




Q.174--->the addresses 192.168.25.16-28 has to be summarised... it will be 255.255.255.240.. i dont know how to explain it... but if u have cbt nuggets.. watch the 1st ospf video in the second part...

Q.407---> its a sim question..... all the sims r in this website... dont practice any sims frm p4s.... when everything has been explained perfectly here, y to worry about those wrong sims in p4s...

Q.440---> The Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) has reserved the following three blocks of the IP address space for private internets (local networks):

10.0.0.0 - 10.255.255.255
172.16.0.0 - 172.31.255.255
192.168.0.0 - 192.168.255.255

so the first one is the private address... so it cannot be routed out to the internet...

Passed yesterday 874 with 20min spare!

Hint: Must know your subnet well.
I got 5-6 questions about subnet alone. They are similar in P4S, just IP are different. In fact, know your subnet and it will help you get pass
the exam and problems solving at work.

Must know all SIMs from 9tut and you will do fine.
I got NAT, RIP v2.

The rest Qs are similar to P4S v8.03. Just IP numbers are different though.

Drag and Drop are similar to P4S.

One question about Private IP and IPv6. Same Qs you will find in P4S.

The New P4S is out I am contemplating purchasing as I have a retake on Monday and my last test on this last monday was quite a bit different and I only scored a 734. This is my last chance. Does anyone have it before I add another 100.00 to my 250.00 retake this is my 4th try. I have already purchased other test aids with no results, after a year and $1K I really need this, my career is on the line. Any ideas would help. If I could get someone that passed it recently to give me some advice on how to study this material so I retain it. Would make the purchace a lot easier on me.

To sal: Because the subnet mask is 255.255.0.0 so our the new range of our network is from 10.45.0.0 to 10.45.255.255 (now the address 10.45.45.0 is no longer the network address) and we can assign it to a host.

kenneth, im sure everyone here will be able to help as long as we have the copy of questions that we can brainstorm. i, too will be taking my CCNA exam this third week of march and like everybody else, afraid to fail the exam. i think the best method will still be to practice those lab/hot spot questions using packet tracer or other router simulators and to understand the answers to the questions rather than to memorize it. and of course to check out 9tut site for help! :)

I Think ......The IP Address of Router interface serial 0/0/1
is 10.45.45.1 255.255.255.0

it means the router other end should be int the same subnet
suppose a Host connected to the other end usually its router which connects through serial so the Ip

address of that router should be
between 10.45.45.0 to 10.45.45.255
in that 10.45.45.0 is a network address and 10.45.45.255 is a broadcast address rite...and u know the

int s0/0/1 address is 10.45.45.1

so now the range of ip of the other side is between 10.45.45.2 to 10.45.45.254 only

according to the access list 115 it will allow the ip's which are having the last octate as 0 it means

x.x.x.0 will be only accepted...

so other end of the router should be in the form of x.x.x.0 then only it can establish a connection

first but we know that the range of the the other end is to be from 10.45.45.2 to 10.45.45.254 it is not

possible to make an establishment to the router....
so niether host or something cannot be accessed Because of no connection establishment.

That's why the Answer A is Correct..........ONE

Note:There is a possiblity of a address with last octate as 0 but the thing is the other end should be there for it to access in the same subnet (10.45.45.0 10.45.45.255).

There is no quick tips for them. I highly recommend you to write down the commands many times until you feel confident. Try to configure on some simulators (GNS3, Packet Tracer) if you can.

I passed using comeback2009 and got 920 yesterday. Practice LABs of 9tut-like this one appeared on the exam. I honestly forgot this but recalled the answers as is. Read p4s3.22, 503 over and over and answers will just be pointed by the mouse. In NAT Sim, ACL is time consuming so master ACL and wildcard. Of course knowledege by viewing nuggets and reading Sybex will surely help as basis in eliminating choices. Thanks 9tut for sharing. To God be the Glory.

Good afternoon everyone. I took the CCNA test today and for some reason I got 944 out of 1000. I was sure I was going to get a perfect score, although Cisco didn't think so. I received the NAT question, the ACL questipn as well as the frame relay question. To ensure you pass the test, Study the questions from Pass 4 Sure, not just memorize the questions and answers. Passed my ccna exam gr8 site...i got 3 lab sims from here (CCNA Access List Sim , NAT Sim & Rip v2 configuration exactly same no change at all one sim from Frame relay but u need to know all the comds whr u find info from main router no configuration needed and one or two Q outside Pass4sure. one thing I must say these labs looks easy but its is completely diff feeling when you r in exam so please practice in packet tracer at least once. Last but not least ill like to thanks 9tut.com… gr8 help keep up the good work.

hey all , Passed my ccna yesterday 14-05-2009 , All praise To Allah , and i'd like to thank 9tut for the great site ,really we all appreciate your efforts towards the community .

well I've got nat simulation with a little different ips , Access list lab sim as is , RIP2 sim , frame relay hotspot question with a different frame-relay mapping numbers also , but i'd say in frame relay you have to take care a little when you solve the questions , dlci numbers are different although the destinations ips are the same as in 9tut site , the only difference was the question of "if required , what password should be configured etc... " .it's slightly different from the one found here in the site . in my exam , i've thought alot what should be the answer because in my hotspot question the serial link between the main (dubai in this 9tut site , in my exam it's name was barcelona and the midlest branch , in my exam was central ) its configuration in the main site barcelon site to the central site was using ppp encapsulation not the default encapsulation method hdlc ,

for the subnetting , alot of them were there on the exam so , you have to practice more to solve them in a faster time

i've got alot of drag and drops questions most of them are found in pass4sure 8.03 except only one question from the 8.14 version (btw its the last question in pass4sure no 514)

later i'll post questions's numbers i got in the exam , as exactly were in pass4sure

and I changed the IP on router 2

I agree that the answer for Q3 is "A".

But I don´t understand why should Telnet, ping and routing updates be accepted, as is written in the explanation. I tried it in the sim and they actually didn´t work.

Very nice your idea of using a mask 255.255.0.0 and a Host with the last octet 0 for being able to access the router.

I just wanna thank all of you who are contributing to this website. I recently passed the 640-802 exam with a full scrore (1000), just a week after viewing this site (including the p4s tests) for the first time. In my opinion, both the information in this site and the pass4sure tests serve pretty well for the exam. But I think there is also very important to study and understand very well all the concepts which are teached in the official books before.
I also use the gns3/dynamips platform for nearly real lab-scenarios. It's a wonderful tool.

I gave my CCNA exam yesterday but unfortunately I failed in the exam. All the sims and 80% of the questions were from the dump. I dont know where I got less marks. I scored only 804 marks. I just want to know is there any negative marketing in the sims. Because I completed the the sims successfully. Please tell me is there something else I need to do after completion of the sims.

Hey man,

After you complete step1, and system boots up, you start step2 where P4S Test Environment is installing... spyware comes up during the setup??? (setup tries to download some stuff from internet)... please check that step and revert back with resolution...

I am using latest Spyware Doctor engine...

Hi Nixon, Could you please confirm whether latest dump is P4S 8.14 or P4S 7.58? In lots of other communities peoples are claiming P4S 7.58 is the latest dump. Thanks!

I have seen v7.58 it was same like PS 8.14 just it's separated in groups by topic.

Please check latest one i am not sure witch one is currently.

Thank u for 9tut.com i passed CCNA today about 2 hours ago with score 1000/1000. ron 136, pass4sure v 7.58 and kill test v13.02 is still valid.simulation question from 9tut.com.for kill test v13.02 page 134/135 the simulation Question 1 the right answer is E, page 114/135 first question the right answer is A. No password is required. Thanks a lot
